Discussion
The University of Massachusetts Wind Energy Center is a leading institution in wind energy engineering nationally and internationally. Since 1972 the Center has worked diligently to maintain and enhance its important wind energy education programs and research activities.
The University of Massachusetts is a recipient of a 20% Wind Energy Funding Opportunity Announcement award. The university will develop a formal course in "Offshore Wind Energy Systems Engineering." The materials developed for this course will be disseminated on the Web, allowing for easy transfer of this knowledge to other institutions and educators. The course will be taught at UMass Amherst as a one-semester upper-level engineering course, for juniors, seniors, and graduate students.
