Understanding Renewable Energy Businesses: Aligning Renewable Energy Firms + Economic Developers

Date: 5/16/2013

Are economic developers aligned with the needs of the renewable energy industry? The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) interviewed representatives from wind, solar, and biopower companies to assess the opportunities and challenges facing these industries in a new report, Understanding Renewable Energy Businesses: Aligning Renewable Energy Firms and Economic Developers. The survey questions mirror those asked of economic developers in the IEDC's 2011 report, Powering Up. The similar format has enabled IEDC to compare and contrast firms' and economic developers' perspectives, thereby identifying overlaps and gaps in understanding. The goal of the report is to help economic developers adjust their strategies to best support local renewable energy industries.
