DOE Offers Conditional Loan Guarantee to Support Development of New Hampshire's Largest Wind Farm

Date: 6/22/2011

Location: NH

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) offered a conditional commitment to Granite Reliable Power, LLC to provide up to $136 million in loan guarantees for a new 99-megawatt (MW) wind generation project in Coos County in New Hampshire. The project will create nearly 200 construction jobs, generate enough electricity to power nearly 20,000 homes, and avoid more than 124,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. The majority of the power from the project will be sold to Central Vermont Public Service and Green Mountain Power. DOE's Loan Programs Office administers loan guarantee programs to support the deployment of renewable energy systems using commercial technologies, along with innovative technologies that avoid, reduce, or sequester greenhouse gas emissions. DOE has issued loans and loan guarantees or offered conditional commitments for loan guarantees totaling more than $33 billion to support 36 U.S. clean energy projects.
