Discussion:

Noble Environmental Power's proposed 99 MW Granite Reliable Power Project has submitted an application to the New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee requesting a Certificate of Site and Facility. The project timeline has been scaled back considerably due to the poor economic outlook and the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, one of the project underwriters. Additionally, the project is facing opposition from Groveton area residents on their assumption that the addition of 99 MW of wind to the current transmission system would cause curtailment of the wood-burning power plants already in existence and which are an important source of employment in the area.
