On June 13, 2008, the Town of Portsmouth broke ground for the installation of a single 1.5 MW AAER wind turbine. Major wind turbine component parts were delivered to the site in January and the assembly and commissioning of the 1.5 MW project was completed in the several weeks following. The turbine is located at the high school and may be the first Clean Renewable Energy Bond funded wind project to be completed in New England.
