Fort Collins Utilities Wins DOE Wind Power Award

Fort Collins Utilies implemented the first wind program in Colorado in 1998 and was among the first in the nation to deliver wind energy for residential and business subscribers. In October 2004, the U.S. Department of Energy's Wind Powering America presented Fort Collins Utilities with an award for its vision, leadership, and outstanding community support for renewable energy. The program has over 1,100 residential subscribers and 70 commercial subscribers. Purchasing wind power costs subscribers an additional 1 cent per kilowatt-hour.
