U.S. Energy Information Administration Predicts Wind Capacity and Generation Increases in 2014

The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently released a short-term energy outlook, estimating that:

  • Wind capacity will increase by 8.8% to about 66 gigawatts (GW) by the end of 2014 and will increase 14.6% to total more than 75 GW at the end of 2015.
  • Electricity generation from wind is projected to increase by 2.2% in 2014 and by 11.4% in 2015, contributing more than 5% of total electricity generation by the end of 2015.
