Utah Municipal Power Alliance Developing Idaho Wind Farm
The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Utah's Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) and systems in several other western states are building a wind project in Idaho for their members. The project will produce electricity for 6.5 cents to 7 cents per kilowatt-hour (including renewable energy credits), a price comparable to electricity produced by many natural-gas-fired power plants. The project will generate enough electricity to power approximately 43,000 homes. Utah Clean Energy, part of Wind Powering America's Utah Wind Working Group, worked with UAMPS to educate their members about the opportunity to buy into this project.
