Wind Powering America presented the Carpe Ventem (Seize the Wind) award to Community Energy Inc. for its role in developing the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm, the first utility-scale wind project in the state of New Jersey. The award was presented at the dedication ceremony on December 12, 2005, by DOE regional Office Director and WPA steering committee member, Ellen Lutz to Community Energy's Brent Alderfer. The 7.5-MW project will supply enough energy to power approximately 2,500 homes.

The wind farm is owned by Jersey-Atlantic Wind, LLC, a partnership of Babcock & Brown, a San Francisco-based investment banking firm; Central Hudson Energy Group, Inc., a New York utility; and Community Energy, Inc. GE Energy manufactured the wind turbines. The project received necessary funding support from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
