This event will combine science, conservation, and education to provide participants with the latest in research and monitoring techniques. Topics will include an overview of bats and wind energy issues, relevant guidelines and metric documents, field methods, equipment, data analysis, and minimization strategies to reduce bat fatalities at wind energy facilities. In addition, discussions will focus on policy, regulation, and the challenges of detecting rare or endangered species fatalities using the Indiana bats as an example.
Registration fees include breakfast and lunch during the two-day workshop, course materials, and instruction by leading experts from U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agency, First Wind, Stantec, the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and Bat Conservation International.
