NREL and the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) Wind Division co-hosted this webinar. Russel Smith, Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association executive director and co-founder, provided an overview of the trade association founded in 1984. Mr. Smith has 34 years of experience in the renewable energy industry promoting renewable energy issues in Texas; working with governmental, educational, and non-profit boards; and serving on state committees and task forces promoting the development of Texas' solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and hydro resources.

Wind Powering America 9th Annual All-States Summit Proceedings

The Summit, which followed the annual WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition, provided Wind Powering America's network of state wind working groups, state energy officials, DOE and national lab Wind Powering America representatives and its professional and institutional partners an opportunity to review successes, opportunities and challenges for wind at the state level. Participants shared strategies/lessons learned, reviewed priority activities/topics, and celebrated and recognized accomplishments among peers. The Summit featured plenary sessions, regional and state breakouts, and smaller group discussions on focused issues, as well as presentations and remarks from invited national guest speakers. Summit participants included leaders of Wind Powering America's state wind working groups, institutional partners, wind industry experts, and DOE and National Laboratory staff. American Public Power Association (APPA) National Conference and Public Power Expo

Wind Powering America (WPA) is exhibiting its booth at this event. Approximately 2000 utility general managers and board of directors from across the U.S. participate in the APPA annual meeting. At the annual conference, APPA is conducting a workshop on the Public Participation Handbook in which WPA cosponsored development. The event will include presentations from various public power systems that have successfully engaged their customers in energy resource decision making as well as a presentation on the Nebraska Deliberative Poll that WPA funded in 2003.
